Maintenance of the PC

How to Keep Your PC Cool.

The computer runs with the help of certain integrated circuits like graphics cards and CPUs. Due to continuous use over a long period of time, these components get overheated and may ultimately cause the system to crash. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out certain measures to make sure that the temperature of the computer stays neutral.

The easiest way to get rid of additional heat is to remove obstacles that may be preventing the system from ‘breathing’ properly. To do this, users should ensure that there are no objects placed adjacent to the PC. There should be about 3 inches of empty space on each side of the system as well as the back.

The most common belief of PC cooling is that users should always keep the case open as this allows the system to eliminate hot air easily. Even though this seems rational and reasonable, the question of dirt comes up in this case. If the case if left open all day, dust will enter the cooling fan or pad at a faster rate than if the case is closed. Due to dust build up, the fans will either stop working or become too slow. Therefore, to keep your computer cool, keep the case closed at all times.

That being said, cleaning the computer is also essential with respect to keeping the system cool. Internal fans collect dust over a certain period of time which prevents the system from cooling down properly. Most computers come attached with two cooling fans. All the user has to do is shut down the PC, open the case and get rid of debris with the help of canned air.

For best results, carry out this cleaning exercise outside your house to prevent the dust from settling in the room and eventually back in the system.

Sometimes a computer may overheat if it is placed in an environment that is either too filthy or too warm. The solution in this case is to move the system to a cooler location.

If you are finding it difficult to move the computer, simply repair the CPU fan fitted in the system. The CPU carries out the main functions of the computer and a CPU fan ensures that it stays cool and therefore, makes sure that the system works properly. It is necessary to upgrade this fan on a frequent basis as the CPU will get overheated much faster than any other internal component.

Case fans can also be attached to the system to get rid of hot air. These fans are installed on either side of the system as well as the back. As they are attached inside the system, they propel hot air easily and effectively. Most users recommend making use of two fans for this purpose- one that gets rid of hot air and one that allows cool air to enter. When these fans work together, it is definite that your system will remain cool for a long period of time.
